Today I discovered a presentation created by an ex-Yahoo employee, Ernest Delgado, although originally created by Marcin Wichary. The presentation shows various examples of the new HTML5 specification soon to be released in all major browsers.
Up until today I’ve been pretty short sighted in the fact that I didn’t want to learn about a new technology which isn’t even fully supported. But I realised that, if I want to stay on top of my game and be the best web developer I can be, I need to know what HTML5 is about and why it will change the way we browse and use the Internet.
HTML5 will revolutionize the way we use our browsers, providing us with built in support for offline storage (which from a developers point is AWESOME) , geolocation, built in databases and so much more. It’s truly incredible stuff and this presentation really displays the features in a way that showcases every little point.
Not only does the presentation show off the features of HTML5, but also the new CSS3 specification which will solve any developers nightmare of logos using shadows, although they’re pretty retro now in menus.
The presentation can be found here, please be sure to read all of it and do follow the examples. It’s definitely worth any developer taking a look at, even from a designers point, it’s useful to know what your designs will be able to incorporate natively!

Nice! HTML 5 looks awesome! I can’t wait to see this as the main specification!
